Lufkin, Texas – Terra Fog

Terra Fog applied on a blade patch in Lufkin, Texas. TPI installed about 70 gallons of Terra Fog on 500 feet of Limestone Rock Asphalt blade patches in the TxDOT Lufkin District. The level up material looked very dry and the Terra Fog penetrated the surface very well. The surface was traffic-ready within 15 minutes. Fog sealing all patches with Terra Fog is extremely cost-effective, as it not only eliminates raveling and seals out water from the level up, but also it improves future seal coats by eliminating the seal coat asphalt from being drawn into the level up material....

City of Austin – Chip Retention – Terra Fog

Background On Thursday, March 6, 2014, Cox Paving Co. performed preventative maintenance on traffic lanes on 1st Street near Slaughter Lane in Austin, Texas with Terra Fog from Terra Pave International. Terra Fog is a special water based eco- friendly polymer compound. Application Area Terra Fog was applied to sections of 1st Street for a distance of about one mile south from the intersection with Slaughter Lane. The road surface was originally covered with a grade #5 chipseal, and substantial amounts of loose aggregate rock from the failing sections of the old seal where visible along the curbs of the street. Loose chips were also visible on the road surface itself, in addition to holes and gashes in the chipseal. Daren Duncan, P. E. City of Austin “We have a test section [of Terra Fog] in the backyard of the Streets and Bridges Department, and we wanted to use that to see how the material held up under heavy equipment and lots of turning movements. And that test section held up pretty well, with all the heavy equipment and turning. The most interesting thing is how quick it set up––about 15 minutes. Also, we were very interested in the tire tracking, because of how hard it is to keep people from driving over and tracking.” Advantages of Terra Fog The advantages of Terra Fog are multi fold: Environmentally Safe – Terra Fog includes no VOC’s and evaporates only water. Surface Strength – Terra Fog will do an excellent job of locking down all of the aggregate and additional aggregate loss is unlikely. Curing Time – When placed with good drying conditions, Terra Fog could be crossed with no tracking in less than 10 minutes and was ready for traffic in approximately an hour. Continued curing will occur for 24-48 hours. Impermeability – The surface is completely impermeable, very effectively shedding water. It will penetrate into pavement cracks and will do an excellent job at sealing minor cracking. Aging – Terra Fog includes carbon black and has excellent ageing characteristics. By sealing air and water out of the asphalt pavement, it will substantially reduce oxidation of the asphalt and extend pavement life. Here is the video of the application.  ...

Collingsworth County, Texas – Terra Fog

Terra Fog™ application on Collingsworth County Rest Areas Collingsworth County Rest Area Pavement Repair Background On Tuesday, July 2, 2013, ICA performed pavement preventive maintenance on Collingsworth County Rest Areas with Terra Fog from Terra Pave International. Terra Fog is a special polymer. Other materials used include limestone base screenings (dust to 3/8”) and masonry sand. Facility Collingsworth County Rest Area is located on US 83 approximately 37 miles North of Childress Texas. It includes approximately 1450 feet of roads from 21’‐35’ wide. There were a number of previous repairs that appear to be hot mix asphalt pavement probably 10 years old or older. Some of the old repairs are substantially alligator cracked. Other Repair and Fog Seal Areas Procedures Alligator cracked areas were blown out and the area cleaned of debris. A diluted mixture of 2 parts water and 1 part. TF was sprayed on area . Cracks were filled with limestone base screenings and the area was squeegeed to coat the aggregate with TF and to fill the cracks. Larger aggregate was removed. The same procedure was used on other area, but the aggregate used was a washed masonry sand. The finer sand was easier to squeegee into the cracks and to make smooth, but may take longer to cure since the aggregate does not absorb water like the base material. The whole area was then sprayed with a mixture of 1 part water to 2 parts TF as a fog seal. Fog seal areas were just coated with TF diluted 1W :2TF Please click on the images to enlarge.
